Egremni, one of the longest beaches in Lefkada, is famous for its turquoise waters and long sandy beach, stretching for more than 2.5 km. Similar to Porto Katsiki beach, Egremni is surrounded by cliffs and therefore it is not very easily accessible. The nearest villages are Athani and Dragano.
Egremni beach is located in the south-western part of Lefkada Island, about 30 km of Lefkada Town. Since the mid-1990s, when a sealed road was first created, this remote beach has become one of the firts tourist destinations on Lefkada, as it is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and in Europe as a whole. According to Travel + Leisure magazine, Egremni beach is one of the “13 Places Where You Can See the Bluest Water in the World”.

How to Reach Egremni beach
Driving to the beach from island’s villages is not so convenient experience, since the road is pretty narrow and there is hardly space to fit two cars side by side on its main part. In addition, the traffic is heavy during summer period, especially in July and August. Tourists should be aware that there is no gas stations between Porto Katsiki beach and Lefkada Town, so fill up before you go to the beach, just in case. Don’t forget that the beach has a lot of stairs to walk down and climb up to the parking lot, which many visitors see as the main drawback of this beach. You can also reach the beach by taxi-boats from the villages of Nidri and Vassiliki.

The waters of Egremni beach are turquoise blue and the beach is composed of white sand and fine pebbles, comfortable to lie on and relax under the sun. Its clear waters are ideal for swimming or sailing. Its isolated setting and breathtaking beauty are ideal for relaxation.
Beach Services & Equipment
There are a couple of beach bars as well as sunbeds and sun umbrellas for rent on the beach. There is no water sports equipment for rent at the beach, therefore if you are a water sports lover you will have to bring your own equipment.
Safety
The waters of Egremni beach are quite deep and during windy days they can also become very wavy. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to pay attention when swimming there, as the aren’t any lifeguards at the beach. Make sure to bring safety equipment for children and do not leave them unattended.
Useful Tips
Egremni beach does not get as crowded as Porto Katsiki beach, and thanks to its length, you will be able to find a more quiet spot if you are willing to walk a few meters away from the crowd. If you are planning to reach it by car, it is recommended to start early in the morning, in order to avoid street traffic.

The closest village to Egremni beach is Athani village, located about 4,5 km or 15 minutes away by car.
